LAPD officer formally charged with insurance fraud in March 2026.
PETER JOHN MASTROCINQUE allegedly collected tens of thousands of dollars in unemployment benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic while working full-time for the LAPD.
Prosecutors allege that between September 2020 and January 2022, he submitted false claims to the California Employment Development Department (EDD).
Mastrocinque is accused of illegally collecting approximately $42,750.

Following the investigation by the LAPD’s Special Operations Division, Mastrocinque was placed on administrative leave.
If convicted, he could face up to five years in state prison.
