Man who lost his right eye after being hit in the face by a “less-lethal projectile” fired by an LAPD officer.
Jesus Javier Gomez Islas had just left work on January 31, 2026, and was near the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles. He was talking to a friend, who was with the media, when he was hit.
He is 23 years old.
